Finished this today. Just barely long enough to call it a
novel, I'd say. For a while now I've had a taste for Southern
Gothic, and I've been wanting to read something by him for a
while. Franklin's dedication in the front of Smonk was to
Hannah, and that put the boot in my ass and I bought
Ray.
I didn't care for it. Several times it wandered off into some
fantasy land that I couldn't relate to. And the story itself
was bare to the point of hardly being a story at all. The
protagonist commits several serious crimes, and there is
never any mention or hint that the law might be after him.
Disjointed and unbelievable.
