Dear miker,
I do not care for Japanese writers much. I saw the movie out
of Kirino's book OUT on TV. Not bad. Kirino is now a hot
writer in Japan with a number of awards.

Murakami is not a real hardboiled writer, so I do not read
him. I read several Kitakata's novels before I invited him as
a guest for a meeting of the Maltese Falcon Society Japan. He
is a great admirer of Dashiell Hammett. Not bad. He writes so
many novels as other Japanese writers, I quit reading
him.
But as I said, I do not read Japanese writers so I am no
expert on them or their works.
Best, Jiro Kimura
