Today I noticed a lyrical connection between Leonard Cohen and Hawkwind.
From Cohen’s “Hey, That’s No Way to Say Goodbye” (1967):
But let’s not talk of love or chains and things we can’t untie
Your eyes are soft with sorrow
Hey, that’s no way to say goodbye
From Hawkwind’s “Urban Guerrilla” (1973), written by Robert Calvert:
So let’s not talk of love and flowers and things that don’t explode
We’ve used up all our magic powers
Trying to do it in the road
