Partly on this William and Partly on the Trouble is my
Business thread (a ?long and very worthy tract on a, why I am
pleased a British actor is playing Marlowe, b, why I wish
Denholm Elliott were still alive and c, why I fear Frank
Miller is a victim of his own fans and Sin City is a
repulsive and pointless film - which was deleted by this PC
in this internet cafe in Cardiff).
Get Carter is an obvious and stunning rebirth of a (HB and
very noir)?book in a film and I reccomend reading Max
Decharne on the subject (search on Gallon Drunk if you'd like
to know more as I may have mispelled his name).
All the best to all the best,
Nos da and goodbye.

Don Johnson aside, I've always enjoyed THE HOT SPOT, based on
the Charles Williams book. It's a terrific, compelling film
that really seems to capture that moist, noir'ish desperation
that's so tangible in William's source work. Jennifer
Connelly's topless scene is only icing on the cake.
I thought THE WOMAN CHASER, starring Patrick Warburton and
based on the Willeford book of the same name, was pretty
good. Stylish, almost oddly so, but mezmerizing and, like the
Williams movie, very compelling and filled with noir
sensibility.
I'm sure there's many others, but those are the two that leap
to mind.
