No. Not that I remember. You'll find something similar at the
end of Bride Wore Black as well I'm afraid. It happens with
him and it really shows in some of his lesser (as they say)
short stories. One of the things I really like about Woolrich
is that he could care less about the rules and pulls some
amazing stunts on the way to the end of his stories.
