Hey Mark, i live down here in san diego & 2 friends of
mine have shared some whiskey with chandler at mt. hope, so
got ya covered.
next time you're in town, you can do the jim thomspon tour.
his duplex on 2nd avenue in banker's hill is unchanged
(except for the addition of bars on the windows). i used to
live a couple blocks from that house. i had insomnia and
would wander around there at night. recently, i read that
thompson did the same thing. he said the hill up to his house
was so steep you could tie your shoes while walking up it. it
feels that steep when you're a little drunk at 3 a.m.
seems like almost nobody in san diego cares that thompson
lived and wrote here. i'm not surprised the chandler house
has been "remodeled"--san diego developers would tear down
old town and turn it into condos if they could get away with
it. this city is corrupt and sleazy and has no class,
contrary to what ron burgundy said.
but i hope you had a nice time here. nice weather, isn't
it?
