I agree with this comment, and it probably explains why I
like a lot of writers that others don't particularly care
for, including Mickey Spillane. I discovered him near the
height of his popularity (in the 1950s) and when I was just
the right age (early teens). Even then, I knew better than to
take the books entirely seriously. But now, looking back, I
think Spillane was a better writer than several people who've
commented.
