First, and this was already discussed here quite some time
ago, there are at least 5 novels in the complete Factory
cycle, wherein acts the police inspector "without a name"
working for the A14 section;
"I Was Dora Suarez "(the novel- 1990) is one of them, and
probably the bleakest of he series, and not for all tastes.
One of the best novels by Derek Raymond, by the way (in
France, published under his real name: Robin Cook). The last
one of the cycle is "Dead Man Upright" (1993). Derek-Cook
died in 1994.
In 1981 he wrote "Sick Transit", which is a play of word
between English and Latin and thus could not be passed over
to the French translation. this explain the totally different
French title : "Le soleil qui s'鴥int" (The Sun which Burns
Out - approx translation), 1982. Not a bad novel at all, with
all the dark views and characters typical to the author, as
found in the better known novels that will follow.
