-------- Ah, an opportunity to assuage some of the amazon.com
guilt syndrome: I work with a small non-profit theatre
company (http://theatrewest.org/) .
I have a link button for the theatre's website at the top of
my browser. Whenever I feel the need to buy something from
amazon.com, I click on the Theatre West button, am whisked
instantly to the theatre's website, where there is a big
button on the upper left marked "amazon.com - click here." I
click that button (total clicks thus far: two) and am whisked
just as quickly to amazon's website. From that point on,
everything I buy has a five-percent portion of its purchase
price deducted and donated to my theatre company.
Amazon has this arrangement with lots of non-profit
organizations. http://theatrewest.org/ is
merely the one closest to my heart. So when the occasion
arises for a purchase at amazon.com, here's a way to feel a
little better about it.
