Following up on the Joe Lansdale talk--I just finished THE
TWO-BEAR MAMBO, one of the Hap Collins/Leonard Pine books,
where they go to a small town to look for a missing friend
and in short order get their asses kicked. It was great, but
there was one drawback: I had to restrain myself from quoting
some of the great obscenities in it at work.
I'd read IGUANA LOVE, then TWILIGHT AT MAC'S PLACE by Ross
Thomas, then this Joe R. Lansdale ... then I was at a party
and got to talking about books and someone listed their
favourite writers and said, "Oh, but you like *crime*
novels." I just shook my head, then let go with a couple
quotes from Lansdale.
