Chris responded to my noting Tim O'Brien's revisions of his
novels:
"I don't know about this, but will try to take some time to
check it out."
I heard It years ago from an O'Brien fan. A very cursory
google search found numerous general mentions of his revising
between editions, but no specifics. So I have no idea how
extensive the changes are.
"Regardless, it would be a shame if someone passed up reading
The Things They Carried simply because it has been revised.
It's one of the great ones. Simple and direct writing that
packs a wallop."
You've convinced me. I just pulled my edition (the 1991
Penguin paperback) off my shelf.
