I finally got around to watching the Coen brothers' MILLER'S
CROSSING, which I'd been told was a tribute to Hammett,
particular his first novel, RED HARVEST.
To me, it seemed much more than a tribute: it seemed to be a
pretty faithful adaptation of THE GLASS KEY.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie, but I was stunned not
to find a
"based on the novel by Dashiell Hammett" line in the
credits.
Apologies if we've talked about this before, but did others
have the same impression?
