I just finished reading Elmore Leonard's _Mr. Paradise_, a
Detroit procedural with the usual ingredientes (fast, snappy
talk, colorful characters, chumps as bad guys, a cool hero).
I did enjoy the cast of characters but, frankly, the plot is
thin and the tension nonexistent. One of the weakest Leonard
books I've read in a while. Surprisingly, this got a rave
review by local writer Ann Beattie in the New York Times book
review.
Best,
MrT
