miker, I have (but haven't read) Richard Wormser's ALL'S FAIR
(1937), which appears to be a proletarian novel. I liked
Wormser's Gold Medal novels quite a bit, but they weren't
totally hardboiled. So I can't vouch for ALL'S FAIR. I'll bet
it would be good reading, though.
