I just got back from one of my favorite used bookstores. I
picked up:
Bondi Blues by John Baxter -- Stuart Coupe (whoever he is)
wrote two blurbs: "Hardboiled as all hell . . . and sometimes
really funny" and
"The talk is that Bondi Blues will set new standards for the
Australian crime novel. The talk is right." Well, this came
out in 1993. Did it? I know next to nothing about Australian
cime novels, just Peter Corris and a Mask Noir title, "Dark
Angel."
Happy Birthday, Turk! by Jakob Arjouni The Killing Floor by
Peter Turnbull, who was recently recomended The Silver
Jackass by Frank Gruber -- is this a good one? The Case of
the Dark Hero by Peter Cheyney Murder on the Rocks by Robert
Dietrich (EH Hunt)
and
The expose The Male Hustler by John Warren Wells, which was
one of the names Block wrote under. I don't know for sure if
this is one of his, although it is dedicated "for Jill
Emerson, a visible alternative," which is another of his
pseudonyms.
Any more worthy than others?
