The longform audio drama (on sale at BoucherCon), TOO DEAD TO
SWING, features a number of characters with ties to
late-Depression Philadelphia. Also notably, the cover
painting for the tape package was reprinted on the March EQMM
cover. http://www.audio-play.com/
to see the cover, etc.
The play as performed here has a few rough edges that need to
be shorn, and one of the cheesier-sounding British accents
I've heard sported by one key character, but suffices as a
pretty-good medium-boiled, mildly noirish, perhaps
too-guessable mystery with decent, even Cole-Porterish,
original jazz-pop songs mixed in. (Murders during an
all-woman swing band's tour just prior to US entry in WW2.)
