I know the following authors are featured : Block, Willeford, McBain, Pronzini, Lansdale, JD MacDonald & "many others". The reason I asked is that I was hoping that there wouldn't be too much overlap with other anthologies. You wouldn't think it would be a problem with such a vast field to chose from & considering the mere handful of anthologies & number of editors in the field but there's already been some overlap. The above list of authors could almost have come from any of the recentish antho's which is OK by me (although a bit of variety wouldn't hurt) if the stories aren't repeated. Having said that, "The Mammoth Book of Pulp Fiction" edited by Jakubowski was excellent value. IIRC it's the one that has the Bruno Fischer story, "We Are All Dead", possibly my favourite noir short story of all time.An ad screened locally a little while ago featured a skinny, morose looking kid, dressed all in black, looking sorta punk/gothic, circa 1981, looking at these running shoes, & he keeps saying "have you got anything in black?" & in the final shot he's dubiously studying a black running shoe & says "Have you got anything blacker?" That's how I feel about crime fiction. That Fischer story is just the shade I'm looking for.
