I watched the new Nero Wolfe movie on TV last night. It was
pretty amusing, but it made me wonder about the books. I've
only read one, Fer de Lance, and that was a long time ago
(George, was that in our hardboiled course or in the general
mystery course I took?).
While I wouldn't go so far as to claim the movie was
hardboiled, Archie certainly drew on the tough guy image of
hardboiled, in his actions and his slangy language and
delivery. The movie was a bit campy. Are the books? Any
particular titles recommended?
