First: sorry for that nasty typo in my previous posting.. Simenon named his noir novels: tough novels (dur-in French).

I recommend you to read : The Stain on the Snow . Probably his masterpiece. But anyway a great book...

Also: The Rings of Bicê´²e(aka The Patient) The Cat Three Beds in Manhattan

There are more, but it's a good start.
