Henry Gregor Felsen isn't forgotten by me. I figure that
novels like Street Rod and Hot Rod come pretty close to
having a noir sensibility, considering the endings. Both
those books impressed the heck out of me long, long ago, as
did A Stone For Danny Fisher, which I read when King Ceole
came out.
