I don't know if Sam S. Taylor was a screenwriter, but I enjoyed NO HEAD FOR HER PILLOW, mentioned by Paul.

Robert Ames was the pen name of Charles Clifford, according to Pat Hawk's book. I don't know of anything published under the Clifford name.
