No, he never published anything in the pulps. He had a
totally different sensibility, not to mention aspirations.
But he could certainly be hardboiled, as in his masterly
story The Killers. Not to push the point, and speaking as an
avowed fan of hardboiled, adventure, and noir fiction: I
don't think these genres ever produced a masterpiece
comparable to Hemingway's _The Sun Also Rises_.
