Bob Randisi asked who'd read Mike Roscoe and John B. West. I
think I've read most of the Mike Roscoe books and enjoyed
them. Roscoe, as I recall, was actually two guys, and they
were real private-eyes. I've also read most of John B. West's
books. I always thought of his hero (could he really have
been named "Rocky Steele"?) as sort of a cruder version of
Mike Hammer.
(I know some of you are wondering how that could be
possible.) West was, I think, a physician. And I seem to
remember that he was black and that he lived in South Africa
at the time the books were written. But, my memory being what
it is, I could be completely wrong about that.
