I have been reading the suggestions with interest but man,
Ida Lupino would have been fantastic. Tough but human,
irresistible but very dangerous. And if you like your
fantasies realistic, she was also under contract with Warner
Brothers at the time.
Great in noir work work too. What was the name of the film
from the late 40s where she played a nightclub torch singer?
Possibly "Road House" was the title. There was a scene where
she slapped the bejesus out of this guy and told him off,
briefly but searingly. Boy, she had a great slap!
