Well, right now I'm 32. I read most of the authors on my list
in college -- Ross Thomas, Ross Macdonald, Raymond Chandler,
Chester Himes. Crumley was a relatively late addition: I
stumbled on a bargain bin copy of The Last Good Kiss (in my
opinion one of the half-dozen best private eye novels ever
written) in a Waldenbooks, of all places, sometime in the
early Nineties.
The book that turned me on to the genre, John D. Macdonald's
Deep Blue Goodbye, I first read when I was about 14 or
so.
