Your observation that Spillane was not writing for a 90s
audience is critical to enjoying or understanding his work.
By current standards, he is the epitome of political
incorrectness. But, he was spot on for his time. But no,
there is "no such thing as a good Spillane novel", if you are
going to judge them by current views of morality or
sexuality.
What happened after his religious conversion? Did he continue
to write and is he still alive?
