Jax -- and to some degree, I guess -- Dr. Pepper have
regional
associations, particularly Jax beer. And these lend
authenticity to the
atmosphere, I suppose. But there's another beer brand with
local/regional
ties to Louisiana (I can't recall the name at the moment) and
I don't
recall seeing it mentioned as often in Burke's novels. Maybe
there's some
kind of socio-economic beer pecking order I'm not aware of
that's at play
