I have attended live readings by both. Ellroy leaves me
slightly uneasy and
I'm not a big fan of his showmanship. I found Vachss to be
steadfast and
solid. I think Ellroy worked hard to shock the audience while
many things
Vachss relayed simply were shocking (to many).
