I sometimes review more or less forgotten books by dead
writers - I call
them nostalgia reviews. I think Bill Denton has put a couple
on the
rara-avis web page.

Addendum to recent readings:
* Baynard Kendrick - "Death Knell" (Morrow, 1945), another
candidate for
the Miss Harboiledhearts column. Kendrick's work deserves to
be widely
known. He's yet another forgotten great master of the pulp
style. Yes, I
know that he was made a Grand Master by MWA, but that was way
back when
- in our dememorized society, it's as if he had never
existed!
