RARA-AVIS: something new...

of words, really. I still say that judgment should be withheld until a
person reads WHITE JAZZ and AMERICAN TABLOID. Great, great novels...

I'm also high on Richard Price's FREEDOMLAND at the moment, having just
finished it while on vacation. A big book, a realistic (maybe?) book, a
dark story. I agree with the critics: Almost every book Price writes is a
masterpiece. For those who don't know, this guy wrote CLOCKERS a few years
back, which was a major work of gritty art.

As for Lehane, I read those three, enjoyed them quite a lot, but I don't
think there's much life left in the series unless he does something
drastic. I have nothing to support this other than "my gut." But I'll
give the next one a shot, i suppose.
