We've had some discussions of these books in the past. I don't know DARK
CITY, but can recommend FILM NOIR. I think it probably has become the
"standard reference." Has very nice descriptions/evaluations of every
major title, alphabetically arranged, together with lists (writers, stars,
studios) and good essays on such topics as women in noir, revisionist
titles, noir Westerns, etc. But if you really want a coffee table book,
this work is light in the glossy picture department (as compared, say, to
Bruce Crowther's FILM NOIR).
