>DARK CITY: THE LOST WORLD OF FILM NOIR was described
thus: "This ultimate
>companion to gritty black-and-white postwar classics
like THE BIG HEAT and
>THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL reveals that the dark stars
led desperate,
>nefarious lives both on-screen and off."
>
Although I did not think the lives of the stars was the overall
point of
the work (I would just buy it to look at the stills from the
pictures),
this book has every possible detail about every film crammed
between great
stills from the pictures. I reviewed this for MYSTERY NEWS and
only saw a
review copy where the stills were photocopied, but the real
book is going
to be great, I believe.
