I couldn't see that Spike Lee's jitterbug added anything to
Malcolm X. Danny DeVito wasn't credible as a leg-breaker in
Hoffa. Patsy Kensit wasn't drop-dead beautiful in Angels and
Insects. Nora Dunn was too glamorous in Miami Blues. Sometimes
this works, ironically, as when Woody Allen plays Humphrey
Bogart, or casts Wallace Shawn as the super lover in Manhattan.
Route 66 was pretty bad as On the Road. Clint Eastwood was a
tad long in the tooth for The Bridges of Madison County. Ditto
Spencer Tracy in The Old Man and the Sea, weight-wise. I
thought Timothy Dalton was a little light in the ass for James
Bond.
