Hello, I work for the North American Branch of the Internatinal Association of Crime Writers, and we're proud to announce our nominees for our annual Hammett Prize. Here they are: NOMINEES FOR ANNUAL NORTH AMERICAN HAMMETT PRIZE ANNOUNCED The North American Branch of the International Association of Crime Writers is pleased to announce nominees for their annual HAMMETT PRIZE for a work of literary excellence in the field of crime writing by a US or Canadian author. The nominees are as follows: Michael Connelly, The Poet (Little, Brown) James W. Hall, Buzz Cut (Delacorte) Peter Robinson, Innocent Graves (Viking) Martin Cruz Smith, Rose (Random House) Stephen Solomita, Damaged Goods (Scribner) A reading committee of IACW/NA members selected the nominees, based on recommendations from other members and the publishing community. The committee was headed by Lise McClendon and included Maureen Daly, Eleanor Hyde, John North, Ann Romeo, and Michael Stone. The winner will be chosen by three distinguished outside judges: popular and prolific science fiction author and scholar C. J. Cherryh; Andre Schiffrin, Director of The New Press; and John Hollander, critic and poet, who is Sterling Professor of English at Yale University. The organization expects to name the HAMMETT PRIZE winner within the next few weeks.
