I enjoy listening to the Radio Aporee audio stream, which I learned about from Framework Radio. Today I uploaded a couple of my own field recordings to Radio Aporee Maps. The first is Juniper Island Porch, recorded on Stony Lake, Ontario. Here’s what it looks like in a browser:
What is Radio Aporee Maps? It says:
[I]t is a global soundmap dedicated to field recording, phonography and the art of listening. it connects sound recordings to its places of origin, in order to create a sonic cartography, publicly accessible as a collaborative project. It contains recordings from numerous urban, rural and natural environments, disclosing their complex shape and sonic conditions, as well as the different perceptions, practices and artistic perspectives of its many contributors. this makes it a valuable resource for art, education and research projects, and for your personal pleasure.
The second recording was done in Oshawa (a city east of Toronto): Westbound GO Train Departing for Toronto. This is what it looks like in the browser of my phone, where it works very well:
Look to see if there are some sounds from a place you know or would like to visit!
