I saw the trailer for this the other day (before Get Low) and knew I'd have to see it. Opens in DC this coming Friday.
Also saw a trailer for A Woman, A Gun and a Noodle Shop, which is a Chinese historical remake of Blood Simple, if you can believe that. Looked pretty good, though a sword poking holes of light into a dark room isn't quite as dramatic as bullets doing so.

> Has anyone else seen this Australian homage to/improvisation on WHITE HEAT? Caught it yesterday and dug it immensely. The title is apt, because it's almost like watching a nature documentary, except the beasts-of-interest are a crime family and the cops. The family's name is Cody (natch), and its various members are all fully and uniquely imagined and portrayed, none more so than Mom, who's sweetly creepy and cold-blooded. Guy Pierce's part is incredibly understated, which helps the general ensemble feel of the performances. In fact, it's the understated quality of the whole thing that gives it its power, because Mom stands out. It won the World Cinema Jury Prize at Sundance, whatever that means. Stunning editing, pacing, photography and script. Can't remember the music, which is usually a good thing.
