    I actually had this same reaction when I re-read it, but it still had a huge impact on me the first time around. We sometimes leave behind the joys of our youth, to borrow fromthe psalm. Christ, I used to LOVE John Hawkes and now find him insufferable except in very very very small doses.

    Thanks for the Lethem recommendation. Another book I should have thought of.
