If you are going to publish something I would have thought that one of the steps you would go through would be to work out who your potential audience would be and what that audiences expectations would be. Doesn't seem to be a process they went through. Maybe they were marketing to people who buy books because of the covers. Don't laugh. They are out there. Sad but true.
