The Rankin starts well despite only middling art, but veers off into very silly fantasy at the close.
The Azarrello starts off as a nice, seedy noir crime yarn, but I haven't finished it yet.
It will be interesting to see what else this series has in store.

I saw the first two volumes of the Vertigo Crime line in Border today: Filthy Rich by Brian Azzarello and Victor Santos and Dark Entries by Ian Rankin and Werther Dell'Edera, featuring John Constantine. Yes, Ian Rankin writing a John Constantine graphic novel. They are hardcover graphic novels. They were shrinkwrapped, though, so I couldn't even flip through them. Anyone read either? How are they?
