I enjoyed Killshot, especially the Colson's relationship, but I don't think it holds a candle to
Rum Punch, Maximum Bob, Gold Coast or Outa Sight. I love his madder characters and while Bird, Nix and Donna were certainly strange, Ordell, Luis & Melanie have a lot more depth, the story of Rum Punch is much more complicated. It doesn't really matter which one you start with, no one takes you on a more suspenseful and amusing ride than Leonard.

I'd go with Stick, Swag and City Primeval. the best of his later work is
Get Shorty. his most recent books all seem more meandering than usual
