I disagree.
I don't think the ending is what makes a film a 'noir', but generally all
of those films that have happy endings that the general populace think of
as noirs ("Laura", "Key Largo", etc.), bear little resemblance to films
like "Out of the Past", "DOA", "Double Indemnity", etc.
