Under various names, The Hunter has been reprinted most often of the
Parker books, due to the movies made from it. After that, reprinting
has been a crapshoot. So many of the paperbacks have only come out
twice, at most, especially near the end of the first run. Plunder Squad
and Butcher's Moon are ridiculously hard to find (I first read the
latter as a beat up Brit paperback I was thrilled to find in beach used
bookstore). I think both have only come out once in paperback in the
states, the fomer as a twofer (with Deadly Edge, I think). So coming
near the end of the early series, Deadly Edge has rarely been reprinted.
Not quite as rare as those later two, but close. And as the series'
deserved reputationt goes up and up, more and more people are looking
for fewer and fewer copies. I make a policy of picking up any cheap
copies I see of the series at cheap prices, but it's been a while since
I've run across one.
That's why the new Parker reprint project is so thrilling. Let's hope
they actually manage to stay the course through the whole series.
