Just a quick note to say that I recently read Michael Connelly's THE
BRASS VERDICT and think it is terrific.
Connelly was one of the first hardboiled writers I read. This was many
years ago and at the time I wasn't conscientiously reading any
particular type of fiction. I just picked up any book I could find,
and guys like Connelly, Jame Ellroy, Thomas H. Cook and Richard
Price's Clockers helped me gravitate toward others like them.
Fifteen plus years later I could conceivably take Connelly for granted
except he was such a kind and generous participant on RA a few months
back that I wanted to reread my favorites from him. This increased my
enjoyment of THE BRASS VERDICT greatly.
