    A lot of cops seem to be writing these days. I think one issue of Hardluck alone I published 3 cops from Illinois, with Michael Black being the most prominent. Trey Barker who wrote some of the best short stories for Hardluck, and I think has a recent book deal with Tor, is also in law enforcement. Also a lot of DAs are writing--I believe Gianrico Carofiglio prosecuted mafia cases, and I know a Boston area prosecutor recently published a mystery, and one of the bestsellers
    (can't think of her name) was also a prosecutor. Also a lot of lawyers are writing too (as are doctors).
