A lot of cops seem to be writing these days. I think one issue of
Hardluck alone I published 3 cops from Illinois, with Michael Black
being the most prominent. Trey Barker who wrote some of the best short
stories for Hardluck, and I think has a recent book deal with Tor, is
also in law enforcement. Also a lot of DAs are writing--I believe
Gianrico Carofiglio prosecuted mafia cases, and I know a Boston area
prosecutor recently published a mystery, and one of the bestsellers
(can't think of her name) was also a prosecutor. Also a lot of lawyers
are writing too (as are doctors).
