I agree...though I think The Big Nowhere is far superior to
Dahlia. I thought American Tabloid was a much better book
than White Jazz, but I didn't like it enough to even try
wading through the The Cold Six Thousand...to big of a tome
for me, when I'm losing interest in the artist.
And I've actually never read L.A. Confidential. I loved the
movie, and it was my intro. to Ellroy, but for some reason
I've always sidestepped reading the book.
