RARA-AVIS: ladies and gentlemen, Michael Connelly

I've had the privilege of seeing Michael Connelly in person twice. both times were at this terrific little bookstore on the Venice boardwalk in Los Angeles called The Mystery Annex. a great lady, Terry Baker, now sadly retired, used to schedule regular book signings and I spent many a happy evening there with a lot of my favorite authors. Terrill used to hang out there before he bought his own bookstore. so did Gar Anthony Haywood

anyway, the first time I saw Mike was at Robert Crais' appearance for L.A. Requiem. Bob spotted Mike in the audience and immediately started shouting out hosannas, almost bowing down in fealty. I was aware of Mr. Connelly's work, but had yet to pick any of them up. I figured, if Bob likes him so much, it's time

so thank you, Bob

the second time I saw Mike was on his tour for A Darkness More Than Night. he is, as others here on the list have attested, an extremely nice and unassuming man. I told him that Harry Bosch was my favorite fictional character in any medium, books, film, television or comics. I meant it then, and it's still true

and so I'm thrilled to be able to say that Mr. Connelly has joined Rara Avis to answer questions and discuss his work
