ARTS, BRIEFLY Brazilian Film Wins Top Honors in Berlin
Compiled by LAWRENCE VAN GELDER Published: February 18, 2008
Films about police violence and prisoner abuse in Iraq
captured the top prizes at the Berlin International Film
Festival on Saturday. The Golden Bear for best film went to
³Tropa de Elite² (³Elite Squad²), a Brazilian drama by
Jos預adilha, right, about the black-uniformed paramilitary
police who strike fear into residents of Rio de Janeiro
shantytowns, The Associated Press reported.
By the way, City of God is a must detailed (shot by
shot/sequence by sequence...) study for anybody wanting to be
a film editor...so pass it on to your kids...
