Hard to tell, because I never counted, and it depends on your
definition of noir and hardboiled. I've been reading in the
genre since I was 8 or 9, which was a long time ago, when
Earl Stanley Gardner was putting out best-sellers. Do I start
enumerating with those? How does Perry Mason fit in the
categories? In or out? Bertha Lam? At least a thousand. Maybe
tens of thousands.
Still, scarcely a day goes by on this
list that I don't come across an author or a book title I've
never heard of. Joy
J.B. asked:
Hi.
I like noir and all kinds of hard-boiled fiction. My favorite
is hard-boiled private detective stories. This is a great
group! I've learned a lot here. Thank you very much! How many
noir/hard-boiled books do you think you've read? Thanks
Again!
