of it actually made its way into the movie?

I read the book -- Bodies Are Where You Find Them, from 1941 -- for a piece I wrote about the movie for Mystery*File. Not a whole lot of the plot made the transition. The Shayne book is set against the backdrop of a Miami mayoral election. Shayne has endorsed one candidate. When the daughter of the opposition turns up dead in Shayne's office, the detective hides the body in hopes of unraveling the case before the votes are cast. The main debt owed to the book is a single clue that I won't give away for those who haven't seen the movie.
