It's of course rather bloggish and not very thorough. And I
don't get into details or possible errors in the book. But
yes, Chester Himes was already writing stories in the
thirties - but not for pulps, I think he aimed for higher
markets and possibly some black magazines (or "Negro"
magazines, as they were called at the time). Someone else
here knows more about Himes than me, I'm sure.
